Tyres & tyre fitting in Mildenhall

Understand your tyre size, wear and pressures — and ask about our large stock.

The right tyre for your vehicle

Tyre choice starts with the correct size, load rating and speed rating for your vehicle. Your handbook and vehicle information help establish the specification. You can usually find the size on the tyre sidewall: for example, 205/55 R16. Some vehicles use different sizes at the front and rear, so check both. We can talk through suitable options for your car and how you use it.

A large stock, right here in Mildenhall

We carry a large stock of tyres at our workshop. Call with your registration and tyre size and we’ll check availability and fitting options. Tell us how many tyres you need and whether you have a puncture, uneven wear or a pressure warning. Our workshop also provides balancing and wheel alignment, so we can discuss related concerns during your visit.

Check pressure and condition

Use the manufacturer’s recommended cold tyre pressures for the load you are carrying. These are usually shown in the handbook or on a vehicle label. Inspect the tread and sidewalls for cuts, bulges and embedded objects, and check pressure regularly and before a long journey. A tyre that repeatedly needs air deserves investigation. TPMS is a useful warning system, but you should still make manual checks.

Tread depth and wear

For cars and light vans, the legal minimum is 1.6mm across the central three-quarters of the tread and around the entire circumference. Check several positions, because wear may be uneven. This is a legal minimum, rather than a guarantee of performance in every condition. If wear is concentrated on an edge or the vehicle pulls to one side, ask us about an inspection and alignment.

Can a puncture be repaired?

We assess the location and extent of damage and the condition of the tyre before deciding whether a repair is suitable. Driving on a deflated tyre can cause further damage. If your tyre is flat, has a bulge or is losing pressure quickly, stop safely and arrange help. Tell us what happened and we can discuss the next step.
