Brake checks & repairs in Mildenhall

Recognise changes in braking and know when to arrange a check.

Pay attention to a change

A new noise, vibration or change in pedal feel is worth investigating. Squealing does not identify a particular failed part on its own, and a vibration can have more than one cause. An inspection helps establish what is happening before parts are replaced. Describe when the symptom occurs and whether it is getting worse.

What you might notice

Grinding, pulling while braking, a pulsing pedal or a persistent warning light are all reasons to seek advice. Tell us whether the problem happens from cold, after driving, at a particular speed or only under braking. Dashboard symbols vary between vehicles, so consult the handbook as well as describing the warning to us.

When to stop driving

If braking is reduced, the pedal suddenly sinks or feels unusually soft, or you suspect a fluid leak, stop somewhere safe and arrange assistance. A brake-system warning with a change in braking needs urgent attention. Call before travelling to the workshop if you are unsure whether the vehicle is safe to drive.

How we can help

Vince’s Tyre & Auto provides brake inspections, maintenance and component replacement. We can investigate the symptoms you report and discuss the findings and recommended work. Pads and discs are part of a wider system: the appropriate checks depend on the vehicle and the fault. Bring any previous inspection advice or service information that may help.

Keep maintenance on schedule

Brake wear depends on driving conditions, mileage and the vehicle. Follow the manufacturer’s service and brake-fluid requirements rather than relying on a single mileage figure for every car. An MOT examines specified roadworthiness items at the time of the test; routine maintenance remains important between tests.
